‎A shocking revelation shows that a member of the house of representatives from Ekiti state has been allegedly defrauding local contractors in Abuja. 

‎

‎A local contractor who happens to be a close person of a governor in Nigeria (name withheld) spoke with our correspondence, claimed he met with the Reps member in early year 2024, to secure one of the constituency projects awarded to the federal constituency of the lawmaker. 

‎

‎The lawmaker, who looked very humble and responsible promised to patronise the contractor and flashed him with contracts worth over 500 millions, unknowingly that it's an attempt to defraud the contractor, just as he has been doing, even before he emerged as federal lawmaker. 

‎

‎The contractor was lured to pay a certain amount, amounting to 100m naira with the hope of getting the contract through the office of the Reps member. Hoping to be linked with other colleagues for huge contracts. 

‎

‎After many months of fruitless efforts to secure the contract, the contractor begged for refund of the over 90m naira paid to personal account of the aide of the lawmaker and up till now, the money wasn't refunded and all efforts to reach out to the lawmaker proved abortive. 

‎

‎Ekiti is known to be fountain of knowledge, with people of integrity and dignity but the federal lawmaker is muddling the good name of the state and does not deserve to represent the state at any level.

However, the federal lawmaker is being given 48 hours after this publication, to reach out to the contractor for total compliance and refund, hence, his Masquerade will dance naked and the whole world will know his identity.

The recent attempt by the Ewi-in-Council to impose an underperforming House of Representatives member on the Governor for a third term is deeply troubling and unacceptable. It goes against the principles of fairness, equity, and democracy.

Turning the Ewi’s palace into what looks like a political office is embarrassing. Traditional institutions are meant to unite the people and preserve our culture, not to be used for politics. Bringing the palace into partisan matters reduces its respect and dignity.

It must be clearly stated that the House of Representatives seat belongs to both Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Governments, including many towns and communities. The interest of all these areas must be considered, not just a few individuals.

Public office is not a personal property. You do not need a third term to make an impact. Leadership is about results, not how long you stay in office. Trying to bring back a failed representative shows a lack of respect for the people.

Reports of pressure and inducement to force Kabiyesi to support this plan are unacceptable. Such actions, if true, are wrong and must be rejected by all well-meaning people.

Traditional institutions must remain neutral. They should not be involved in party politics. Using them for political gain is a betrayal of their role in society.

Party loyalty should be based on values, not personal interest. Those who are quick to leave the party when things don’t go their way should not decide its future.

Our members are ready to take part in direct primaries as stated in the Electoral Act. That is the right and lawful way, not imposition or backdoor arrangements.

The party belongs to the people, not a few individuals. Therefore, the Ewi-in-Council must act with caution and avoid anything that could disturb the peace and stability of Ekiti State.
