Ekiti 2016: BAO the real deal, We can do it again...

“Your Product Is Working!” - Ewi of Ado, Ekiti People Reaffirm Support for Governor Oyebanji

A moment from the past has become even more relevant today.

In this video from the 2022 electioneering season, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, then a national leader of the APC, visited the palace of His Imperial Majesty, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, alongside Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the APC governorship candidate at the time. Tinubu came to seek royal blessing and the support of the people.

Here, the Ewi, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, spoke with unmistakable clarity and conviction. “This product you’ve brought doesn’t even need advertisement,” he said, referring to Oyebanji. “He’s one of us. One of those who fought for the creation of Ekiti State.”

That royal endorsement, backed by the APC, the people, and divine favour, translated into BAO’s emergence as governor.

Fast-forward to today, the story has come full circle. His Imperial Majesty recently visited President Tinubu in Abuja to give feedback. It was simple and sincere: “The product you brought us is working. We want continuity.”

And the monarch is not alone in that sentiment.

From former governors to civil servants, market women to okada and tricycle riders, artisans, youth groups, traditional rulers, and even leaders of opposition parties, the message has been consistent, as Governor Oyebanji is performing; he’s also uniting, reforming, and delivering on all fronts.

Here in Ekiti, we’ve moved past politics of bitterness and boxed loyalties. We celebrate brilliance and reward competence. We appreciate leaders who value the people, and Governor Oyebanji is a living proof of that standard.

The call for continuity is not about party. It’s about performance. And Ekiti is speaking with one voice, saying, "Let BAO continue."

Oluyin commends governor Oyebanji on his quick response to rainstorm victims

*I Won't Abandon You to Suffer, Oyebanji Assures Rainstorm Victims*

*...as rain damages over 100 houses in Ekiti communities*

The Oluyin of Iyin, Oba Adeola Ajakaiye has commended the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji on his prompt response to Victims of rainstorm in Ekiti,

Oyebanji represented by the deputy governor visited and gave assurance on Monday, while inspecting buildings affected by rainstorm in Iyin, Ifaki and Usi Ekiti, with scores of victims rendered homeless due to the wreckage suffered on buildings numbering over 100 in the three towns.

Mostly hit by the tornado were private  residential buildings, Police Staff Quarters, religious centres, and lock up shops, spread across the three towns.

Speaking during the on- the- spot assessment, Oyebanji, represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, restated the imperative of landlords conducting regular maintenance on their structures to abate the recurrent cases of building collapse during stormy downpour.

The governor said embracement of maintenance culture, coupled with tree planting around residential buildings to break the storm, are two strategic panaceas to avert landlords falling victims of this traumatizing occurrence.

Oyebanji appealed to the monarchs to spread the gospel of tree plating during their council meetings, so that the policy being propagated by government can sink deeper into the minds of the people.

"We are not always happy when this kind of incident happened, because many will be rendered homeless and those affected will be seeking emergency financial assistance, which might be traumatizing in most cases.

"This is the more reason why we have been preaching on local radio for our people to brace up for the coming rainy season by way of making sure they look after their shelters, this is very important.

"We have always been standing by you and we will do same under this circumstance. We will provide relief materials to support  you to rebuild your buildings. We assure you that won't abandon you to suffer".

On how the victims will be captured, Oyebanji stated that the staff ofL the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency will visit the communities to undertake thorough enumeration of the damaged structures and landlords affected  to guide the government in its intervention.

Expressing sadness over the calamity, the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaye, applauded the government for the quick response, describing this as highly   commendable and a way of exhibiting leadership that will assuage the feelings of the distraught victims.

"I called around 9pm on Sunday to tell the government about this happening and you are here early today. this further showed that the government of Biodun Oyebanji recognizes and respects the welfare of the people and we are happy that you have promised to help the victims, we are grateful about this.

"We are pleased with this government and we are going to  support it at all times, it is BAO all the way, because no citizen can reject a government that is performing and making them happy".

Expressing grief over the frightening level of wreckage experienced in his town, the Olufaki of Ifaki Ekiti, Oba Adegbenro Falore, said most affected in his community were aged and poor citizens, who are financially incapacitated.

Oba Adegbenro added that most dejected scenario to him was a 100-year old blind woman, whose building was completely damaged during the stormy rainfall.

"We are happy that the governor is a kindhearted man, who has always been listening to our requests and I know that he won't let us down.

"We are going to escalate the campaign for maintenance culture on buildings and tree planting here during our council meetings. We are also assuring our governor that we will continue to support all his policies and programmes".

One of the victims and 95-year old   woman, Mrs Julianah Ademilua, said she had been homeless since Saturday when the rainstorm blew off her building, urging the government to consider her age and come to her aid promptly.

Oyebanji restoring Ekiti hope for a better living

How Governor Oyebanji Earned the Silverbird Man of the Year Award 2024

Yesterday marked a proud moment for Ekiti as Governor Biodun Oyebanji once again took home the Silverbird Man of the Year award, a recognition earned on the strength of genuine results, not political favours or purchased accolades.

The award mirrors his commitment to making Ekiti a model of security, development, and inclusive growth.

What made the event even more special was the display of unity from the state’s ex-leaders. Former governors Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Chief Ayodele Fayose, Engr. Segun Oni, and Dr. Kayode Fayemi were all present, standing together to support the current administration.

In one memorable moment, Former Governor Fayose, while presenting an award to Enugu’s governor, couldn’t help but praise the state’s leadership by saying, “My Governor is doing well. This Governor is performing and he is coming back by the grace of God. Ekiti is the only state throughout the Federation where all former governors are standing solidly behind a serving Governor. I am not APC and I will never be one but, one thing I know is that BAO will lead Ekiti till 2030.”

Beyond the accolades, real change is happening on the ground. Ekiti’s streets are safer, thanks to constant upgrade in security measures. The administration’s investment in modern surveillance and equipment has reduced crime and restored peace in neighbourhoods.

Under the watch of Governor Oyebanji, Ekiti is experiencing a renaissance in development. We've got Cargo International Airport, Ring Roads, Flyover etc. Roads are being repaired and expanded, public facilities modernized, and essential services upgraded.

His government is also taking decisive steps to empower every corner of the community, caring for civil servants, retirees, the youth, and women alike. One standout example is his move to clear the longstanding backlog of gratuity payments, finally ensuring that those who have served Ekiti receive what they rightfully deserve.

Ekiti’s progress is not confined to security and social welfare alone. The state has become one of the top revenue generators in 2024, drawing substantial investment and opening up new opportunities for businesses and individuals.

Transparent fiscal policies and efficient tax collection have boosted the state’s finances. These are further fueling the state's development.

Winning this award is just one part of the story. What really matters is the real change happening here in Ekiti.

Every citizen, whether a dedicated civil servant, an ambitious young person, or an empowered woman, is feeling the difference of a government that actually does what it says.

With Governor Oyebanji leading, Ekiti is carving out a new, brighter, and more united future.

Congratulations to the People's Governor

I'm super proud of Hon. Antonia Alaba Omonusi, Chairperson, Ekiti South-East LCDA for the capital projects across the nine communities of the LCDA; some of which are the Basic Health Center at Araromi-Oke Ekiti and the ultra modern administrative block within the Secretariat complex of the LCDA.

I commended the community and the people of the LCDA for their support for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his government. l reminded them that the giant strides of Hon. Anthonia Omonusi have only been possible because of the favourable disposition of Governor BAO to the development of the local councils.

My sincere appreciation goes to all the traditional rulers that trooped out in their numbers to welcome me, and for joining me as I doled out to some beneficiaries items like motorcycles, refrigerators, grinding machines, hair dryers, sewing machines, power generating sets, cash gifts to commercial transporters, iyalojas among others on behalf of Hon. Anthonia Omolusi in her bid to empower the members of her local council.

It is worthy of note that all the traditional rulers present at the event were adorned in beautiful Adire Ekiti prints. Similarly, my team members and other groups in attendance weren't left out.

I made bold to say "Adire Ekiti to the World"
